Abstract
The effects of photoperiod (0, 8, 16, 24 hours of light) and culture period (day) on the biomass, fat production rate and removal of nitrate and phosphate from white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farm effluent was evaluated in Nanochlorpsis oculata. The response surface methodology based on the central composite design was used to analyze the effects of the input variables on the response variables. The analysis of variance regression of model was used to evaluate the significance of results. The obtained results indicated that the best main variable levels are about 17 hours of exposure per day (photoperiod) and 12 days culture period which led to the highest fat production percentage (25%), biomass of 0.135 mg/liter, and nitrate and phosphate removal efficiency with about 40 and 68 percent, respectively.
